Who says you can't have fun in the sun in January in Colorado? This picture was taken last week at the Denver Zoo.  It was free day at the zoo!

Went Skiing

Saturday, December 20, 2008 8:51 PM by shawn.tomlinson

Went to Breckenridge today, and it was a cold day.  With wind chills in the negatives, it was buurrrr cold, however, the snow was fresh and it was powdery goodness.  I realize i need to invest in some warmer gloves for colder weather skiing.  Now that i have a season pass, i can justify spending a little more on better equipment.  Erin comes into town on wednesday, and I think we might it Keystone next weekend.  I need to get into better shape as my legs were very rusty today.  Anyone want to come out and go skiing?

HD videos

Friday, December 19, 2008 1:30 PM by shawn.tomlinson

I broke down and bought a portable HD video camera.  It is capable of recording in 720p high definition and is very small.  It is the creative VADO HD.  I still trying to figure out how to make them available on the web, as phanfare does not host HD videos yet.

I also plan on taking it skiing with me so I can capture some ski action in High Def.  I was planning on going skiing tomorrow, however, the weather is not looking so good for tomorrow (-20 wind chill and snow).  BOOOOO!!!

Turn around, turn around

Wednesday, November 5, 2008 4:10 PM by shawn.tomlinson

Inara has been very interactive lately.  She is always on the move.  She likes to be chased and she likes to to play hide and seek.  I am also teaching her how to play soccer.  She is really good for her age. :)  She also understands words very well.  Check out the videos below for proof!

Golden Gate Canyon Park

Tuesday, October 7, 2008 8:13 PM by shawn.tomlinson

Over the last weekend we decided to head up to the mountains to check out the scenery and what a great idea it was.  I was reading about Golden Gate Canyon Park, and we checked it out as it is only an hour away.  They have hiking, biking, and horseback riding.  We took Inara on her first official hike.  The changing of the colors was amazing!  It has been a long time since I have really felt like the season was changing.  It makes me look forward to our first blizzard and maybe a white christmas.  I am already looking forward to putting my Colorado Ski pass to good use.  Also, maybe I can take Inara sledding!  I am rambling now, so I will leave you with a few pics.  The rest are available in my photo gallery.  There is a cool video too.  Enjoy!

Inara walks....uh oh...

Thursday, September 11, 2008 11:06 AM by shawn.tomlinson

Well, we just got back from our trip to Wisconsin.  It was great, and of course was over too quickly.  We went canoeing down a river, fishing, golfing and boating.  Inara enjoyed all of the trees and scenary.  She did fine sleeping in the pack n' play.  It wasn't her crib, but she slept great.  The big news is that last night Inara started walking on her own.  What are we going to do now?  I tried putting her to bed at 8pm and she wanted nothing to do with it, so i decided to take her downstairs and let her stand and play with remote controls (her favorite toy).  Instead, she decided to balance on her own without leaning on the things so i tried letting her walk to me.  To my suprise, she started walking and balancing on her own.  I wasn't expecting it last night, but Sep. 10th, Inara officially walks on her own.  5 days shy of her 1st birthday.  Watch the video for some walking action.

The Walker

Monday, August 18, 2008 8:55 AM by shawn.tomlinson

Item:  The WALKER
Price: $30
Top Speed:  1-2 MPH
Features:  Bears, anti-lock breaks, bumpers, adjustable bucket seat
Preferred Road Type:  Hardwood Floors

Inara loves her walker.  It is her preferred mode of transportation, and her battering ram.  You got to watch your ankles in our house, cause at a moment's notice you could get wacked in the lower leg. I refer to it as the "Imperial Walker", as it lays devestation on those who get in its way.  It is especially funny when Inara wants to get into the family room where there is carpet.  She doesn't have enough horsepower going forward, so she will turn the walker around and go in reverse, which we call 4x4 mode since she has more power.   The best $30 I ever spent, endless hours of entertainment.  See it in action by watching the below video.

Moving Tomorrow

Friday, August 8, 2008 3:55 PM by shawn.tomlinson

Well, we are finally moving into our house tomorrow.  I am looking forward to it, but my back isn't.  I am fully expecting my back to be completely jacked come Sunday.  Maybe I can join Marisa at the chiropractor and we can get the family jacked-back discount.

On a side note, I am feeling the pain of being a home-owner.  Some things in the house are not working, the yard is in horrible shape, and I am constantly thinking of things I need but dont have.  For example, that part of the yard is very dry (the sprinkler system must be missing it), I need to water it.  Oh, I guess I need a garden hose unless I want to carry buckets of water from the kitchen.  Hey, I need to unhook that wire from the ceiling in the basement.  Hmmmm...can't reach it,  I need a ladder, or I need to develop some mad jumping skills.  Man, it sure would be nice if i had something in the garage to put my tools in, or on.  Hey, a workbench!  Well, for now the floor is a good spot :)

Actually, home ownership has been great so far, but it is still fun to share the adventures of it!

Mountain Biking Madness

Saturday, July 12, 2008 7:42 PM by shawn.tomlinson

Greg came out an over the July 4th holiday and we decided to head up to Winter Park ski resort for some good ol' fashioned mountain biking.  Well, as it turns out, it was pretty hardcore.  They rent full body armor with the bikes now.  That got me a little worried.  Although I came out unscathed, my Dad didn't fair so well.  He took a pretty hard fall and got some bruised ribs.  They rate mountain bike trails similar to ski trails, with greens, blues, and black diamonds.  Winter park only has blues and blacks for mountain biking.  I will leave you with a few photos, check out the gallery for more.  Oh yeah, on a side note, I played soccer last night for the first time since the infamous ankle injury.  Marisa was not too elated by my decision to play, but I am glad to report that everything went smoothly, and my ankle felt great.  We won 5-1 and I scored 3 goals, so I was pretty happy with the outcome.  I may join a league, as long as Marisa doesn't kick me to the curb for doing it.  Oh yeah, mountain biking pictures......

Body Armor!

Nice view Thane!

One of the easy parts
